Writing Expectations
We have collated some examples of writing from Years 1 -6. These annotated writing examples show you what is expected in terms of grammar, punctuation and vocabulary by the end of each term for each year group. Children are expected to demonstrate their current year’s skills and those that come before. Please encourage your child to try and include some of these skills in their writing.

Writing Target Cards
The target cards show you the specific writing skills your child is taught in their year. In the autumn term, children will focus primarily on the bronze targets and then move to the silver targets in the spring and summer; using the summer term to become more secure in all the targets. Children who are working above age related expectations may go one to demonstrate the gold targets in their writing.
