  • Year 3 and 4

Welcome to Year 3/4! We are all excited to be starting a new school year and welcoming your child to his or her new class. Here is some information to help them settle in and make sure they are ready to learn.

    · Adults in our class: Mrs Hodgson (class teacher) and Mrs Ahmed (teaching assistant).

    · PE days: Our PE days are Tuesday and Friday - please make sure your child brings their kit to school on these days (they will be getting changed in school just before their PE lessons). Swimming for Year 4 children only will be on Friday when Year 3 do PE.

    · Daily Reading: Reading books and brainboxes have been sent home. It is expected that all children read every day at home and fill in their brainboxes. Parents/carers please sign your child’s brainbox when you have read with them.

    · Homework: Maths homework will be set from this week on MyMaths - we will go through this in class beforehand and a letter has already been sent explaining how to use it. It will be set on a Friday and due to be completed by the following Thursday. All login details will be in your child’s brainbox. In the meantime, please focus on reading at home and learning times-tables especially in Year 4 ready for their Multiplication Table Check. Spellings will also be given out every Friday and tested the following Friday so please try and practice these with your child so that they can do their best.

    · Curriculum Lessons: Half term curriculum overviews are available on the school website.

    · Medical: If your child requires any medication in school, such as an inhaler, please make sure it is in school as soon as possible. If they have any medication that is new, you will need to fill in a form at the school office.

    · Attendance: We are all so excited to be back for a new school year and it is crucial that your child is in school every day to ensure they do not miss important, exciting learning. Please also make sure that your child is in class for 8.50am and is collected promptly at 3.20pm, unless they are attending a club.

Mrs Ahmed and I are looking forward to getting to know you and your child better, so please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions.

    Yours sincerely,

    Mrs Hodgson
