Year 6

Dear parent/carer,

Welcome to Year 6! We are all excited to be starting a new school year and welcoming your child to his or her new class. Here is some information to help them settle in and make sure they are ready to learn.

· Adults in our class: Miss Travis (class teacher) and Mrs Rothwell (teaching assistant)

· PE days: Our PE days are Monday and Thursday, please make sure your child brings their kit to school on these days (they will be getting changed in school just before their PE lessons).

· Daily Reading: Reading books and brainboxes have been sent home this week, and it is expected that all children read each day at home, and fill in their brainboxes. Parents/carers, please sign your child’s brainbox when you have read with them.

· Homework: Maths homework will be set from next week on MyMaths (this is the same platform we used last year). It will be set on a Friday and due to be completed by the following Wednesday.

· Curriculum Lessons: Curriculum overviews will be sent out next week.

· Medical: If your child requires any medication in school, such as an inhaler, please make sure it is in school as soon as possible. If they have any medication that is new, you will need to fill in a form at the school office.

· Attendance: We are all so excited to be back for a new school year, it is crucial that your child is in school every day to ensure they do not miss important and exciting learning. Please also make sure that your child is in class for 8.50am and is collected promptly at 3.20pm, unless they have permission to walk home alone (years 5 and 6 only).

· Behaviour: If your child has shown excellent behaviour and moved up to the star on the class behaviour chart they will receive 3 dojos. If there are concerns with their behaviour, parents will be contacted.

We are looking forward to getting to know you and your child better, so please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions.

Yours sincerely

Miss Travis
